Prompt Brief — Autonomous

02-working/prompt-briefs

For a session you won't attend — exact pre-flight, a mid-brief checkpoint.

What it is

The autonomous brief is the execution contract for a session the pilot won't attend. Its pre-flight section — specific files with exact line ranges and a reason for reading each — forces the author to think like an architect before the agent touches anything. Precision here is execution quality.

When to write it

When you'll be away while the agent runs. It carries everything the interactive brief does, plus the pre-flight and execution contract.

What goes in it

  • The six-item quality gate (as interactive)
  • Pre-flight: exact file paths and line ranges to read, with reasons
  • A per-item READ → IMPL → REVIEW → VERIFY → COMMIT cycle
  • A blocker limit and, for 4+ items, a mid-brief checkpoint after item 3

How it fits

The same tier as the interactive brief — the difference is whether the pilot is present. It makes autonomous runs reproducible and auditable.
