What it is
The Prompt Brief is the atomic build unit — where the pilot hands off to the crew. The interactive variant is for sessions you'll direct in real time, reviewing output and answering questions as you go. Brief quality is the bottleneck, not the AI's capability.
When to write it
Before each piece of work. Run the six-item quality gate before doing anything — if you can't answer all six, don't start.
What goes in it
- Goal — one sentence, measurable done state
- Scope exclusions — what you're NOT building
- Testable acceptance criteria
- Non-goals, testing approach, definition of done
How it fits
Sits under a Feature PRD. Its presence is what lets a PRD move to in-progress.
